Emirates Airline sees more Clark-Dubai flights

Dubai-based Emirates Airline is considering increasing its flight frequencies in its new hub in Clark, Pampanga as the Clark International Airport is being developed as a second major gateway to Metro Manila, Central and Northern Luzon.

"We are sure that we will do good in Clark...after many studies in the market," Mohammed H. Mattar, Emirates divisional senior vice president of airport services, said in a media briefing for Emirates Airline at Clark.

DMIA become top airport in Philippines

Arroyo wants DMIA become top airport amid plan to close NAIA

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has ordered the development of the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in Clark, Pampanga into the country’s premier airport, amid the plan to shut down the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City. 
A Malacañang statement issued on Tuesday said Mrs Arroyo gave the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and other government agencies “six months to one year" to turn the DMIA into the country’s leading airport.

Clark Airport was born

In 1902, Clark was established by the Americans and was formerly known as Fort Stotsenburg.

In 1917, the eastern portion of Fort Stotsenburg was converted into an airfield and was renamed Clark Air Field in 1919. In 1947, the first RP-US Military Bases Agreement was signed. This integrated Clark Field and Fort Stotsenburg into the Clark Air Base.
